~ So today we were outside at school on the playground looking under a log for bugs when I thought I had found several little skinny worms. I was excited to find a cache of bugs for the kids but was promptly corrected by one of the 3-4 year olds that they indeed weren't worms because they had feet. On closer look by me, I realized the did have feet! So, I called them centipedes, waiting for one of the kids to tell me it was a millipede! They didn't.
~ But during this exploration, @ found 3 Rolly Polly bugs that we put into a food sample cup to examine up close. He informed me they were his pets and he wanted to take them home. He also wanted to name them. When I asked him what he wanted to name them, he replied, "Tiger!" I asked if they were all named Tiger, he concurred that they were.
~So we took them home, losing one in the car while going around a corner, and found a "cage" for them made from a huge cream cheese bucket to which we added some fresh leaves, soil and twigs and then cut some large holes out of the top so we can watch @'s new pets, Tiger and Tiger.
~They are currently on view on our coffee table where his little sister, LMS is desparately trying to find ways to play with them despite my warnings that they are trying to rest after their big move!
~I guess this is better than the bunny @ wanted at Easter or the hummingbird the cat caught and killed that he asked if he could keep in his room in a bowl. Right?!
